A bottle of Old Smuggler Fine Scotch whisky, The Gaelic Whisky sealed with cork stopper. This was produced by Jas & Geo Stodart Ltd., we estimate in the mid 1940s.
Please note there is no size or ABV stated on the labels.
The history of Old Smuggler dates back to 1835 but Stirling Bonding Company eventually registered the trade name Old Smuggler in 1887. In 1894 the Craigellachie-Glenlivet Distillery Co. acquired the Stirling Bonding Co. Then between 1890 and 1900 Peter Mackie took control of Craigellachie-Glenlivet and by 1930, Hiram Walker & Sons purchased a 60% share in the Stirling Bonding Company.
In 2006 Old Smuggler was a acquired by Gruppo Campari, who still produce it today.
This bottle is from a large collection built up during the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s.
The New Zealand based collection is mainly comprised of blended Scotch whiskies and early Single Malt Scotch whiskies produced for export markets.
The bottles were inherited and conserved by the seller, the collector’s son.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note wear to the labels and capsule.
