A bottle of 1973 Bollinger RD Tradition Brut Champagne, bottled on 26 June 1980.
'RD' stands for 'récemment dégorgé', or 'recently discorged'. This style was first introduced by Madame Bollinger in 1961 for the 1952 La Grande Année vintage. Disgorgement is a process in Champagne making which involves the removal of the frozen sediment collected at the neck of the inverted bottle. RD Champagnes are aged on their lees for longer than most vintage releases, resulting in a more mature and complex wine.
The label carries a royal warrant by appointment to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note wear to the box.
As this is a mature Champagne it is likely that it has lost its bubbles naturally over time. It is also natural for the liquid to have oxidised and become darker. Please note, this contains a significant amount of sediment.
This lot is offered for historical interest rather than for human consumption.
Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
