A bottle A&A Crawford's Special Reserve Blended Old Scotch Whisky, sealed with a spring cap closure. This was produced by A&A Crawford's Ltd, we estimate in the 1950s.
Archibald and Aikman Crawford was founded in Leith in 1860. At the turn of the century a new label was adopted for its Three Star which remained in use until at least the 1980s. A&A Crawford became a limited company in 1942, and was taken over by the DCL in 1944. It then became the license holder for Benrinnes distillery. In 1986, the Crawford brand was sold to Whyte & Mackay.
Please note there is no size or ABV stated on the labels.
This bottle is from a large collection built up during the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s.
The New Zealand based collection is mainly comprised of blended Scotch whiskies and early Single Malt Scotch whiskies produced for export markets.
The bottles were inherited and conserved by the seller, the collector’s son.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note wear to the labels and capsule.
Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
