The Macallan 50 Year Old Millennium decanter is regarded by some as the best Macallan ever bottled, giving an insight into the style of whisky produced at the distillery in the years following World War II.
Three Spanish oak sherry casks were filled on 14 January 1949 and matured for 50 years before being married together on 12 May 1999. At this stage, each of the casks was between 50.2% and 50.8% ABV, having lost more than 50% of the spirit to the angels. The hand-made Caithness Glass decanter was filled in August 1999.
The decanter and stopper are finished with copper detail and the oak presentation case features a copper ingot reclaimed from No.9 spirit still at The Macallan distillery.
