A bottle of 1985 La Grande Dame, the flagship 'prestige cuvee' Champagne from Veuve Clicquot, a 62% Pinot Noir and 38% Chardonnay blend. Undoubtedly one of the great post-war Champagne vintages, this wine received 95 points from Robert Parker and 94 points from Wine Spectator.
1985 was the year that Clicquot changed the bottle shape for this blend, with some sold in the new broader bottle design, and some, like this, bottled in the curvy, older design.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the label and capsule.
As this is a mature Champagne it is likely that it has lost its bubbles naturally over time. It is also natural for the liquid to have oxidised and become darker. This lot is offered for historical interest rather than for human consumption.
Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
