Description

This set contains two 37.5cl decanters of Whyte & Mackay, presented in a Tantalus. The set includes stoppers, and a key for locking the Tantalus. We estimate this set was produced in the 1980s:

1 x Whyte & MacKay 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky

1 x Whyte & MacKay 21 Year Old Scotch Whisky

A Tantalus is a lockable display case for spirit decanters, popular in Victorian England. These were constructed so that the decanters could be seen, but not removed without authorisation. The word Tantalus comes from a character in Greek mythology, who was condemned to stand eternally up to his neck in the river Styx without being able to drink.
