A bottle of Hudson's Bay Jamaica Rum, sealed with a Securo Cap closure. This was distilled in Jamaica and imported to London Docks, where it was matured and bottled by Hudson's Bay Company of Scotland Ltd. We estimate this was bottled in the early 1960s.
The Hudson's Bay Company was incorporated on 2 May 1670 as The Governor & Company of Adventurers of England Trading into Hudson's Bay, with a royal charter from King Charles II. It gained a monopoly in the fur trade and was at one point the largest land owner in the world. Later, it began importing spirits into the Hudson Bay area, and is known for its 'Best Procurable' brand of Scotch whisky. The earliest reference to rum in the company records is from 24 March 1775, regarding the shipping of 30 gallons of rum.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note wear to the labels, and damage to the back label. The cap is slightly dented.
