A bottle of HP Bulmer & Co. Ltd Pomagne Champagne De Luxe 1943.
Pomagne is a brand of cider produced by Bulmers in Herefordshire, England. It was first marketed in 1906 under the name 'Cider De Luxe.' In 1916, it was renamed Pomagne.
It was originally produced by the traditional method or Méthode Champenoise. Bulmers marketed Pomagne as 'Champagne Cider' until Bollinger took them to court over the use of the term 'Champagne' in 1974. Bulmers won the case, but stopped using traditional method fermentation in 1975.
Note that this is cider made in the UK, and not from the Champagne region in France.
Please see images for label condition. Note the badly damaged label and missing capsule. This has a heavily rusted wire which is broken on one corner. This appears to have a good fill level.
As this is an older sparkling beverage, it is likely that it has lost its bubbles naturally over time. It is also natural for the liquid to have oxidised and become darker. This lot is offered for historical interest rather than for consumption.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
