Description

A bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old, part of Diageo's Classic Malts of Scotland range. This was bottled to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the distillery in 1998.

The Classic Malts of Scotland is a selection of six single malt whiskies first marketed together in 1988 by UDV (now owned by Diageo). Dalwhinnie represents the Highland region of Scotland.

When it was built in 1897 the distillery was called Strathspey, the owners changed the name to Dalwhinnie, which means 'Plain of Meetings' in Gaelic, when production started in 1898. The name is a reference to its location at a junction of old drove roads, between two mountain ranges. A fire in 1934 caused a four year closure.
