A bottle of The SS Politician 'Whisky Galore'. The story of this blend starts in 1941, when the SS Politician ran aground off Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides. On board were over 250000 bottles of Scotch whisky, which the Islanders wasted no time in 'liberating' from the stricken vessel, scenes which inspired Sir Compton McKenzie's novel 'Whisky Galore'.
In October 1989, a company was formed to recover the sunken Scotch, and the salvage operation yielded a number of intact bottles. The contents were blended with stocks of Scotch malt and grain whiskies to produce a blend of unique character.
We estimate this was bottled in the early 1990s.
