A bottle of 2006 Montrachet Grand Cru produced by Domaines de Comtes Lafon, made by Dominique Lafon, 'sometimes, and plausibly, described as the world’s best producer of white wine' according to wine writer Stephen Brook.

The 8 hectare Le Montrachet vineyard is generally regarded as the finest Chardonnay vineyard in the world, and is located in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy, shared between the two communes of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. It is surrounded by four other Grand Cru vineyards all having 'Montrachet' as part of their titles.

'Even at 8 years of age this remains incredibly youthful with almost none of the exotic aromatic character that so many '06s display today. There is superb concentration and energy to the wonderfully textured, sweet, powerful, robust and strikingly intense full-bodied flavors that possess plenty of palate coating dry extract on the beautifully precise and hugely long finish.
