A bottle of 1961 Château Mouton Baronne Philippe from Bordeaux's Pauillac appellation.
A 'Fifth Growth' in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, the Château started life as Brane Mouton, and was subsequently renamed Mouton-D'Armailhacq in honour of its 18th century founder, before being changed to Mouton Baron Philippe by Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Philippine de Rothschild changed the name one last time, to its current incarnation, Château D'Armailhac, in 1991.
Please note there is no ABV stated on the label.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear. The cork is high in the neck by 1 to 2mm.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
