A bottle of Dunville's VR Old Irish whisky, produced in Belfast. We estimate this was bottled in the early 1900s.
This was awarded the Gold Medal for Irish whisky at the Paris Exhibition of 1900.
The back label reads:
Bottled, Labelled & Capsuled by Dunville & Co., Ltd., in their own warehouses. 'The Lancet', 24th May 1902, says: "It is remarkably free from the ordinary impurities of whisky, it contains, practically speaking no extractives, no sweetening matter, while it is without any appreciable degree of acidity, the flavour is characteristic of Irish whisky "smooth" and delicately malty, and the color somewhat pale".
