A limited edition bottle of Bowmore 1980, bottled at cask strength on 5 July 2004 and presented with a pot still decanter.
In the summer of 1980, Queen Elizabeth II visited Bowmore distillery. This visit took place in the 'silent season', when distilleries are closed for essential maintenance. Bowmore decided to carry out a full distillation to honour Her Majesty's visit, and this bottling is the result of that distillation.
The decanter is crafted from glass, copper and brass, three traditional elements in the whisky industry.
This is bottle number 078 of 236 from cask number 5777.
Soon after release this independent bottling was recalled due to legal action regarding the label; very few bottles remain in private hands.
