A bottle of 1998 Pingus Dominio de Pingus in Spain's Ribera del Duero region produced using Tinta del País (AKA Tempranillo) sourced from 35 hectares of old vines.
'The 1998 Pingus is opaque black in color, with evolved, stunningly sweet aromatics. Notes of cassis, licorice, cigar box, spice cake, and toasty oak emerge with coaxing. This full-bodied, opulently-textured, viscous, concentrated wine is fat, expansively flavored, and multilayered. It is an outstanding effort, with well-integrated acidity and tannin.' 90/100 Robert Parker.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
