A bottle of 1986 Château Haut-Brion from the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Bordeaux.
'Tasted at the La Mission/Haut-Brion dinner at The Ledbury. A second bottle from my cellar and it is almost identical with that engaging bouquet of fresh tobacco and here, a touch of Cohiba cigar! Again, the palate has a great deal of freshness and mineralite, perhaps even more cohesive than the previous bottle, with an foursquare but beautifully defined finish. Shame it is my last bottle. Drink now-2035. Tasted September 2010.' 96/100

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
