A bottle of Penfolds 2001 RWT Shiraz from South Australia's Barossa valley, matured for 14 months in French oak barrels.
'This wine manages to combine the gentleness of the Magill 2000 with the life and freshness of Bin 389 (which is probably the bargain of this range of Penfolds wines). It is still remarkably youthful, all purple and dust, and still relatively unformed but it convinces that there is a pretty glorious future ahead for it that may well provide more subtlety than many of the wines noted above. 17.5/20 points' Jancis Robinson MW, 2003
This is bottle number 007258.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
