A bottle of Cálem 1970 Vintage Port, bottled in 1972 in Portugal by A A Cálem & Filho, Lda.
Cálem is the best-selling producer on the Portuguese domestic market.
This lot comes from the cellar of our Whisky Exchange colleague; author, wine educator and fortified wine authority, the late Godfrey Spence.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the label and wax seal. This appears to have leaked in the past, but is not currently leaking. This appears to have a good fill level and weighs approximately 1.40kg.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
