A bottle of 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin from Burgundy producer Joseph Drouhin, which includes 30% of declassified fruit from premier cru vineyards.
'A less spicy and more sauvage-inflected nose reflects additional notes of red and black cherry, plum, rose petal and plenty of earth characters. The attractively textured, intense and solidly powerful medium weight flavors exude a subtle minerality on the ever-so-mildly rustic and austere finale. This too is a fine villages and in particular it has unusually good persistence. 90/100. Drink 2027+' Allen Meadows, Burghound, 2021

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
