Description

A bottle of The Balvenie 50 Year Old, distilled in 1937 and bottled in 1987.

In 1987, 500 bottles of this 1937 vintage were made, all of which were sold by the distillery to pioneering whisky retailers John and Wallace Milroy, who had a close relationship with owners William Grant, and at the time were among the only people who had seen the potential of single malt whisky as a luxury product.

The Milroys were quick to export the Balvenie 1937 to their agents all over the world and the 500 bottles were soon all sold out – even though, at the time, Balvenie itself was relatively obscure and 50 year-old whiskies almost unknown.

This Balvenie 1937 sold at our online auction for £19,500
