Description

A bottle of 2005 Château Montrose, a second growth in the 1855 Classification from the Saint-Estèphe appellation in Bordeaux. he vineyards are planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, with the vines planted in a single solid block on gravel and iron-rich soil.

'The last year for Montrose under the Charmolüe family, before the Bouygues bought in 2006....You can now clearly see where this is heading, but it will continue to build over the next few years, and then stay on the plateau for decades. Proof that whatever the Bouygues paid for it the following year, they were getting one of the greatest estates in the Médoc. 60% new oak. 98/100' Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, 2022

Condition

Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the labels.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.

This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
