A bottle of 1966 Bollinger RD Champagne, selected to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 1952-1977. This is a blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, and is considered a high quality, elegant vintage for Bollinger, described by Champagne writer Richard Juhlin as 'slim and tall'.
'RD' stands for 'récemment dégorgé', or 'recently discorged', a style first introduced by Madame Bollinger in 1961 for the 1952 La Grande Année vintage.
The label carries a royal warrant by appointment to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
There is no ABV stated on the label.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the labels and capsule. The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
