A bottle of 1967 Château d'Yquem from Sauternes.
1967 is described in the late Michael Broadbent MW's Vintage Wine as being from 'A superlative vintage, the best since 1959', with Yquem being picked from 26 September to 25 October.
In 2018 William Kelley of the Hedonists Gazette described it thus:
'... a rich, gourmand iteration of this legendary Sauternes, evocative of crème brûlée, apricot compote, marmalade and vanilla pod. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, decadent and unctuous. Many rank it as one of the great post-war Yquems, though I tend to prefer somewhat more elegant vintages such as 1955 and 1962. The 1967, however, was an appropriately decadent, even hedonistic wine with which to conclude a magnificent dinner. 94/100'

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
