A bottle of 1981 Taittinger Brut Champagne, a 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay blend.

This is from the Taittinger Collection, a series of specially selected vintage bottlings (i.e. not the 'regular' vintage bottling) with packaging designed by leading artists. The design for the 1981, from one of the smallest post-war vintage harvests, was by French visual artist Arman, 1928 to 2005.

The bottle is enclosed in a plastic casing which protects it from the harmful effects of light and heat.
