This lot contains four bottles of 1970 Grand Vin de Château Batailley from Bordeaux's Pauillac appellation with extremely badly cellar damaged labels and capsules.
A 'fifth growth' in the 1855 classification, the 55 hectare estate is planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
There is no size or ABV stated on the labels.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Please see images for varying fill levels and extremely badly damaged labels and capsules, one of which is almost detached, and will probably become separated if shipped entirely at the buyer's risk. We recommend these for collection only.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
