A bottle of 1964 Château Margaux Premier Grand Cru Classé.
Château Margaux is rated as a First Growth under the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. It is a 78 hectare estate planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Described by many as being the most feminine of the First Growths, wine writer Stephen Brook notes instead its 'perfume and purity, a crystalline note of the exquisite that is rare even among the great growths of the Médoc.'
Please note there is no size or ABV stated, but it appears to be a 75cl bottle.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the label and back of the capsule.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
