A bottle of 1948 Riserva Vecchio Samperi Marsala produced and bottled by Marco De Bartoli. This is bottle number 121 of 121. This was produced using a the 'perpetuum' aging method, similar to a Solera system, with the resulting wine being dry and oxidative in style.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the wax and the labels. Due to the fragility of the cork/closure we recommend this for collection only, and it is shipped entirely at the buyer's own risk.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
