A bottle of 1970 Grand Vin de Château Latour from Bordeaux's Pauillac appellation.
Château Latour is rated as a First Growth under the 1855 Bordeaux Classification.
'One of the top 2 or 3 wines of the vintage....this young, magnificent Latour is still 5-10 years away from full maturity. The opaque garnet color is followed by a huge, emerging nose of black fruits, truffles, walnuts, and subtle tobacco/Graves-like scents. Full bodied, fabulously concentrated, and intense, with a sweet inner core of fruit and high but well- integrated tannin, this enormously endowed , massive Latour should hit its prime by the end of the century and last for three or four decades thereafter. This will be the most longest-lived and potentially most classic wine of the vintage.' 98 points. Robert Parker, 1998

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
