A bottle of 1971 Grand Vin de Château Latour from Bordeaux's Pauillac appellation.
Château Latour is rated as a First Growth under the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, and can lay good claim to producing the world's longest-lived dry red wine. A 66 hectare estate planted with 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 5% Merlot/Cabernet Franc, it has at its core fruit harvested from the 45 hectare L'Enclos vineyard situated around the winery and Château itself.
Please note there is no ABV stated on the label.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the label and corrosion to the capsule, which is very slightly loose, but appears to be secure. The cork is very slightly low in the neck by 1 to 2mm.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
