A bottle of Fonseca's Finest 1963 Vintage Port, bottled in 1965 in Oporto and shipped by Guimaraens-Vinhos.
Please note, there is no size or ABV stated on the label, but this appears to be a 75cl bottle.
Fonseca Guimaraens, generally referred to simply as Fonseca, is one of the largest Port shippers in Portugal. Established in 1822 by Manuel Pedro Gonçalves Guimaraens and his brother João Gonçalves Salgueiro when they acquired control of the Fonseca and Monteiro Company from the Fonseca family. David Guimaraens, the great-great-great grandson of the founder Manuel Pedro, has been the head winemaker since 1994, and oversees the winemaking and blending for all four Taylor Fladgate Port houses: Taylor Fladgate, Fonseca Guimaraens, Croft, and Delaforce.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the labels and wax seal. Please note, we cannot guarantee this will not crumble further if shipped, and recommend this for collection.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
