A bottle of 2014 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Burgundy from Domaine Armand Rousseau.
Clos de la Roche is situated in the commune of Morey-Saint-Denis in Burgundy's Côte-d'Or, bordering Gevrey-Chambertin in the north and the Grand Cru vineyard of Clos Saint-Denis in the south.
'Note: from a 1.48 ha holding, 1 ha of which is in Les Fremières and the rest in Clos de la Roche proper; 10% new wood. This is....moderately reduced and impossible to properly assess. Otherwise there is excellent volume to the equally muscular big-bodied flavors that are richer but don't quite have the same sense of underlying tension before terminating in a palate coating and quite firmly structured finish that delivers terrific length. This is a big but seamlessly well-balanced effort that should also amply repay extended cellaring. 92-94/100'

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
