1977 Bolgheri Sassicaia 75cl / 12.8%
A bottle of 1977 Bolgheri Sassicaia, bottled at Tenuta San Guido.
'Here is another spectacular surprise from Tenuta San Guido. The 1977 Sassicaia is a balanced and integrated effort with a generous load of dark fruit, tar, spice and licorice. This vibrant vintage delivers the ample pleasure factory you should expect of this Tuscan icon and it adds delicately aged definition as well. The elegantly evolved side of the wine exhibits ash, smoke and crushed mineral. These characteristics add a linear framework to the softer aromas at the wine's core. The mouthfeel is fine, polished and silky. 92/100' Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 2017

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
