A bottle of 1990 Montrachet Grand Cru Marquis de Laguiche from Joseph Drouhin. This was imported to the Italian market by Ercole Brovelli, Milano.
The 8 hectare Le Montrachet vineyard is generally regarded as the finest Chardonnay vineyard in the world, and is located in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy, shared between the two communes of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. It is surrounded by four other Grand Cru vineyards all having 'Montrachet' as part of their titles.
The 2.06 hectare Marquis de Laguiche estate is entirely located on the Puligny side of the appellation on a mild slope with a great south-eastern exposure. The largest parcel of the Montrachet vineyard, it has been in the hands of the Laguiche family since 1776.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the labels and tear to the vintage shoulder label.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
