A magnum bottle of Montrachet Grand Cru 2008 from producer Etienne Sauzet.
The 8 hectare Le Montrachet vineyard is generally regarded as the finest Chardonnay vineyard in the world, and is located in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy, shared between the two communes of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. It is surrounded by four other Grand Cru vineyards all having 'Montrachet' as part of their titles.
'An expressive and still wonderfully fresh nose consists of floral, white and yellow orchard fruit, oak, spice and citrus aromas. The gorgeously rich, intense and mineral-driven big-bodied flavors possess excellent detail before culminating in a mouth coating and tremendously persistent finish. This is still very youthful and clearly still on the way up and while it could certainly be enjoyed now, it should continue to develop well if allowed another few years first. In a word, fantastic. 96/100' Allen Meadows, Burgound, 2017

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
