A bottle of Krug 1979 vintage Champagne. This vintage is a blend of 36% Pinot Noir, 28% Pinot Meunier and 36% Chardonnay.
Krug Champagne is a Champagne house founded by Joseph Krug in 1853. It is based principally in Reims, the main city in France’s Champagne region, and is one of the famous Champagne houses that formed part of the Grande Marques. Today, the house is majority owned by LVMH, but despite this, the Krug family is still actively involved in all the key decisions of the house.
'Nineteen seventy-nine is one of the all-time great vintages for Krug....pulses with remarkable energy and tension, with the Chardonnay coming through nicely in the wine’s overall brightness. Lemon oil, white flowers, almonds, crushed rocks and dried herbs are some of the signatures. Krug’s 1979 is testament to the towering stature of this iconic Champagne vintage. 98/100' Antonio Galloni, 2015

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
