Description

A bottle of La Grande Dame 2012 Brut, the flagship Prestige Cuvée Champagne from Veuve Clicquot.

'Since the 2008 vintage, La Grande Dame has been strongly Pinot Noir-dominant, with the emphasis on elegance. In 2012, Ambonnay, Aÿ, Bouzy, Verzenay and Verzy made up the Pinot Noir part of the blend, while the Chardonnay originated in Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Softly fruity, the toast and pastry-complexed nose offers sweet apricot, cranberries, vanilla, smoke and pomegranate. There is lots of volume on the plush, concentrated palate, which comes with a saline vibrancy and drive. A really dynamic and tightly knit wine, with ages ahead of it. This is fresh and elegant to the degree that it is hard to imagine it has 90% Pinot Noir. Disgorged 2/20; dosage 6g/l. 95/100' Essi Avellan MW
