2016 Bourgogne Blanc Coche-Dury 2 x 75cl / 12.5%
This lot contains two bottles of 2016 Bourgogne Chardonnay from Coche-Dury, considered by many to be the greatest of all Meursault producers.
'The 2016 Bourgogne Blanc from the Coche family is a lovely and absolutely classic example of this superb bottling. While I know the family’s red Bourgogne plots were very badly frosted, I did not note whether or not this was the case with the Blanc as well. The bouquet here is pure and lovely, offering up scents of apple, pear, almond and a lovely base of chalky soil tones. On the palate the wine is fullish, crisp and succulent at the core, with lovey soil signature, bright acids and excellent cut and grip on the very well-balanced finish. 90+' John Gilman
Jean-François Coche-Dury took over the domain in 1972 from his father who built it up in the early 1920s and retired in 2010 leaving it with just over 10 hectares of vines, of which 8.5 are dedicated to Chardonnay and Aligoté. The wine is now made by Jean-François's son, Raphael.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
