A bottle of 1978 Château Sigalas Rabaud Premier Cru Classé Sauternes, a 14 hectare estate planted with 80% Sémillon, 19% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Muscadelle, which produces around 30,000 bottles per vintage.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Please note extensive damage to the label, which has been taped on the upper half, but appears to be secured by its original glue on the lower half. This appears to have leaked in the past, but is not currently leaking. The cork is slightly low in the neck by approximately 2-3mm. We recommend this bottle for collection only.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
