2003 Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule Reichsgraf Von Kesselstatt 75cl / 7.5%
A bottle of Reichsgraf Von Kesselstatt 2003 Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule from the Scharzhofberg vineyard in the Mosel, which is widely considered to be responsible for some of the finest Rieslings in Germany.
Auslese means 'select harvest' and refers to hand harvested whole bunches of fruit featuring nobly rotten clusters, resulting in juice with between 191 and 260 grams per litre of sugar.
Gold Capsule bottlings such as this one generally have higher levels of ripeness and botrytis.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the label.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
