A bottle of 2017 'Y' (or 'Ygrec') the powerful, dry white wine produced by Chateau D'Yquem.
'Y' is only produced when conditions in the vineyard are challenging: bunches are picked to enable the remaining bunches to concentrate and profit from a greater infection of botrytis cinerea, or 'noble rot' for the fabled sweet wine.
The 2017 is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon. 80% of the blend was aged in used Yquem barrels with 20% new oak.
'This is an exotic dry white with dried mango and pineapple and some slate throughout. Full-bodied with dense, rich fruit and saltiness, which, together with extremely energetic acidity, really drive the finish. Drink now or hold. 98/100' James Suckling, 2019

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
