A bottle of 2006 Château Laville Haut Brion from the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Bordeaux.

Laville Haut Brion is a 3.7 hectare estate planted with 70% Sémillon, 27% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Muscadelle, with the oldest parcels planted in 1934. The wine is made without malolactic fermentation, and aged in a minimum of 50% new oak for around fifteen months.

'An absolutely staggering vintage for this historic and tiny estate, this 2006 has a huge nose of tropical fruit, including pineapple, as well as a liqueur of minerality, with quince, white citrus, and a hint of subtle toast. Full-bodied, with huge concentration, an almost flinty mouthfeel, zesty acidity, and a monster finish, this is a prodigious Laville Haut-Brion that needs about 10 years of cellaring and should last 30 or more years. 98/100' Robert M.Parker Jnr., Wine Advocate
