A bottle of 2000 Chateau Léoville Barton from Bordeaux's Saint-Julien appellation.
'Undoubtedly one of the most majestic wines ever made at Léoville Barton, this behemoth displays massive power and structure. A prodigous, saturated purple-colored effort, it boasts layers of concentrated fruit along with notes of graphite, camphor, damp earth, and jammy cassis. Immense, even monstrous in the mouth, it posseses awesome extraction and richness, but the boatload of tannin will keep it from being fully appreciated for at least a decade, possibly longer. A modern day classic; it is an authentic vin de garde for patient wine connoisseurs. Amazing vino! Anticipated maturity: 2015-2040 96+/100'
Robert Parker, tasted 2003

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
