A bottle of Taylor 1966 Vintage Port, bottled in 1968 and shipped by Taylor Fladgate & Yeatman, Oporto.
1966 is considered by many to be a somewhat overlooked classic of a vintage due to its proximity to the more famous 1963s, but it is ultimately likely to be the longer lived of the pair. The wines were the product of a very hot, dry summer (including one of the hottest May months on record).
Wine critic Neal Martin described Taylors 1966 as 'one of the most underrated ports of all time.'
Please note, there is no size or ABV stated on the label but this appears to be a 75cl bottle.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
