A magnum bottle of Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1982 from Bordeaux's Pauillac appellation, featuring a label by John Huston (1906-1987). This was released to celebrate Baron Philippe's 60th harvest.
'The 1982 Mouton-Rothschild has now arrived in late adolescence as well, reaching that plateau where it is close to full maturity, but will possibly last another 25-30+ years. This wine has always been one of the most decadent, luxuriously rich and great wines that along with the Latour is the top first-growth in the Médoc. The wine still has a dense purple color, a beautiful sweet nose of crème de cassis, spring flowers, forest floor and a touch of cedar wood. It is a beauty, full-bodied and probably closest in style and quality to their famous 1959, which has always eclipsed the more renowned 1961 in tastings. 100 points' Robert Parker, Hedonists Gazette, August 2016

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
