A bottle of 2012 Château Lafite Rothschild from Pauillac, Bordeaux in its original wooden box.
Château Lafite is ranked as a First Growth under the 1855 Bordeaux Classification and commonly regarded as being the most elegant and refined of them all. It is a 100 hectare estate, with plantings of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet France and 2% Petit Verdot.
'It's in years like 2012 that the talent of a winemaker like Charles Chevalier is most evident.
After a slight dip in 2011, at least by its own high standards, this is a very elegant, even
restrained Lafite, with lots of colour, a leafy, graphite-like perfume, refreshing minerality,
subtle oak and very pure cassis fruit. It's fairly light, but there's concentration there too. A
classic wine that will appeal to lovers of refreshing, understated claret.
Drink: 2022-40. 95/100' Tim Atkin MW, 2013

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
