A magnum bottle of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut 1975 Royal Celebration Cuvée, carrying a royal warrant by appointment of H.M Queen Elizabeth II.
This was bottled to celebrate the opening of the new Lloyd's of London building, designed by architect Richard Rogers, which saw the redevelopment of the original 1928 building on the western corner of Lime and Leadenhall Streets. The 'new' building was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 18 November 1986.
This magnum comes with a framed John Ward etching, believed to be on zinc, of the Subscription Room at Lloyd's, as pictured circa 1800. This measures approximately 40cm x 32cms.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
