This lot contains a bottle of 1998 Wynns Michael Coonawarra Estate Shiraz, made by winemaker Sue Hodder. This was imported to the UK by Southcorp Wines Europe Ltd.
'This is the flagship Shiraz from Wynns Coonawarra Estate. The first "Michael" was first made from the 1955 vintage, when proprietor David Wynn noticed the exceptional quality from two particular barrels and had them bottled separately. The wine, named after his son Michael, is made only in top vintages and was revived with the superb 1990 vintage. Ripe and full bodied, this wine has a great velvet texture. Aromas of cherry, raspberry, earth and spice abound and follow on the palate with a lush long finish. Aged in new and one-year-old American oak and used French oak. 94/100' James Halliday.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
