A bottle of Niepoort Porto VV tawny Port. VV. Standing for Vinho Velho or 'Old Wine' this label was originally created by current owner Dirk Niepoort’s grandfather, Eduard Marius van der Niepoort, at the beginning of the 20th century based on wines produced from pre-phylloxera vines. We estimate this was bottled in the 1970s.
Please note there is no size or ABV stated on the label but we estimate this is a 75cl bottle.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear. Please note, the wax seal is intact, but appears fragile - we recommend this bottle for collection only.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
