Description

This lot contains three bottles of 1997 Jasnieres Sélection de Raisins Nobles from the Domaine de la Charriere produced Joel Gigou. Jasnières is a small, white wine appellation in the Loire with around 70 hectares of Chenin Blanc vines under cultivation.

'Almost 100% botrytis berries. Polished. Mid full yellow/gold. Rich and complex nose with coconut, gorse, honeycomb, honey and toasted brioche. Really lovely nose with a palate to match. Very refined with excellent texture and lovely acid balance. Flavours of orange and quince confit. Texture of pear skins. Great length. This is lovely now, but has a long life ahead of it. Outstanding.' Richard Kelley MW, 2008

These bottles come from the collection of a Loire valley wine connoisseur who paid annual visits to Loire valley producers from the late 1980s onward, building up a fantastic inventory of bottles at all sweetness levels. These were stored in the UK in an underground WWII air raid shelter after collection straight from the producers.

Condition

Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.

This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
