A bottle of Krug 2003 vintage Champagne, a blend of 29% Chardonnay, 46% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier, from a very long harvest (the earliest since 1822) which started in August and ended in October. This was disgorged in the winter of 2013/2014. The 2003 was awarded a perfect 20/20 score in the Bettane & Desseauve 2020 wine guide.
Krug was founded by Joseph Krug in 1853. It is based principally in Reims, the main city in France’s Champagne region, and is one of the famous Champagne houses that formed part of the Grande Marques. Today, the house is majority owned by LVMH, but despite this, the Krug family is still actively involved in all the key decisions of the house.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
